Well, Mt Baldy (North) is a slog of scrambles in one long section. However, that entire section can be bypassed if you know how to read a map and read a trail. The top of Baldy is also a scramble and narrow ridges to get to the summit. What is nice is one could hike up to there and be 200m distance short of summit, but not much diminished views. Grab a map and plan your route. There's lots of turns and shortcuts along the trail, which is why you will see trails connecting to other trails with no signs. I was unable to find a trail map online for Mt. Baldy but the general rule of thumb is going to be to keep hiking uphill and stay along an established trail. Baldy Trailhead is posted along M-22, 8 miles south of Elberta or 2.7 miles north of Arcadia. If heading south, the trailhead entrance is on the west side of the state highway, 0.7 miles south of Joyfield Road.
