350 chevy timing chain marks
New rebuild. My timing mark on the harmonic balancer is about 60 degrees from my pointer (harmonic balancer mark at 11 oclok and pointer at 1 oclock) when timing my SBC 350 pre 1985. The engine sounds good. I checked tdc and the pointer is aimed at the timing mark on the harmonic balancer when #1 is at its highest point.The timing chain is comprised of a series of links in the chain – similar to those found on a bicycle chain. The links move on the toothed sprockets which are located on the ends of the crankshaft and camshaft and are responsible for opening and closing valves in the cylinder head and moving pistons and connecting rods in the combustion chamber.from Brisbane Australia.
