ByThePond. Easy Roam, Canada-US plans and roaming passes do not cover you on cruise ships or in-flight. Usage on cruise ships or in-flight will always be charged at $0.60 per text, $9.00 per minute and data usage will be blocked. In Alaska ports, you could use the Telus roaming.Basically, in Alaska, if you have a signal, it's going to be a bad AT&T signal or a bad GCI signal. And, even if the signal strength seems like it should be good enough to support data, it likely won't work well, if it works at all. And, even if you have Verizon, you won't fare any better. And now a few observations about the ship's wi-fi.VZ Wireless includes service on Carnival, Regent, Silversea, Crystal, and many other cruise lines, but not Seabourn. VZ charges $2.49 a minute for international roaming on the ship, but since they don't provide service on Seabourn, I guess the cost is irrelevant.
