I'd say the main difference most of the time is offence (corruption) vs defense, but you also need to think about how you may want to apply it. Only corruption can be applied to skills, and only purity can be a weapon buff. Salt also applies the purity status really well and is just an item too. PSN: MCC1701.

I'm at the endgame and just recently started trying to get purity claws and it took awhile (had two claws equipped and lucky drop weapon on accessory).
