And, realistically, if the "400 weapon points and 100k mesos to reroll zero's weapon potential" is so game-breakingly bad or whatever, just increase the meso cost to a few million or so. Remember that the boss itself drops the boxes. These boxes can give Powerful/Eternal rebirth flames and epic potential scrolls. These items make it worth the time it takes to kill the boss imo, maybe the chance of occult cubes should be reduced though.
