But it looks like a serial number for a .38 Military & Police Model of 1905, 4th Engineering Change, made in the very early 1920s, about the time that S&W instituted heat treatment for the cylinders of these revolvers. They weren't made at an even x-number per year, so extrapolating your serial in that range isn't going to be exact.
