Noise from the main pump is most likely coming from the main pump drive. Check condition of Cushion #3, Couplings #2 and #4, Cap Screws #5, Splines inside Drive Shaft #6 and Splines on Pump Shaft. The re-man hi-lo/quad packs are extremely expensive from John Deere! I priced one a couple years ago as I needed one for a 2940. I did find one at ALL State Ag Parts for considerably less but had to change one of the internal sun gears to match 2940 input shaft splines.
