Delta tub spout adapter with set screw

No set screw on the brass adapter. Seems like delta has a few styles of them that all look similar. I’ve tried unscrewing it but it seems pretty set on there and I get the feeling I might damage something if I try harder. Unfortunately that plastic piece has a 1 inch nipple, so it won’t fit into the new spout, which has a 1/2 female connection.
